Daybreak Rotary is requesting funds for club members to travel to and participate in the "Uniendo America" Project Fair for Districts 4240-4250. As of 3/18/19, six Daybreak Rotarians (and potentially 1 Rotaracter) are committed to participate in the Project Fair in January, 2020. The primary activity is to inform attendees about the La Vega water system global grant project and seek commitments for additional grant funding.
The proposed La Vega water system will include a deep well, holding tank, and distribution to approximately 400 homes, at a cost of approximately $300,000. Because a budget of this magnitude is beyond the reach of our Club and the Northwest Montana Sustainable Global Coalition, it is necessary to attract more financing partners - both individual Rotary Clubs and Districts. Attendees at this Project Fair represent clubs from all over North America, that are looking for projects.
Daybreak Rotarians participated in the 2018 & 2019 Uniendo America Project Fairs, with the primary purpose of featuring the La Vega water project. We worked alongside Rotarians from Kalispell Noon and Mazatenango to seek additional funding partners for the La Vega water system grant. We succeeded in securing financial commitments from clubs and districts. We anticipate a large turnout for the 2020 Uniendos America Project Fair in Antigua, and it will be extremely helpful to have numerous Daybreak Rotary members on staff to promote the project.
The budget for the La Vega water system grant application is over $300,000. To date approximately 1/3 of the funds needed have been raised. Participating in the 2020 Uniendos America Project Fair will provide access to a large number of potential Rotary donors.
Grant funds will be used for lodging (6 people at $300 per person) and registration (6 people at $200 per person) at the project fair. All additional expenses will be assumed by the respective
