Project Description Country: USA Location: Townsend, MT Total Budget: $17,000 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Community Development: Construction/Renovation Summary: Extending the American Legion Building Roof to Increase Storage, Security, and Drainage The American Legion Post #42 building in Townsend is in need of a roof extension on the back of the building facing the alley to increase storage for the growing use of the facility by Broadwater County Veterans. In addition, the new addition would increase the security in the back of the building. Currently, runoff from the roof and alley run towards the building during storms and the new roof extension, gutters, and final grading would minimize those problems. The American Legion has been raising funds for the estimated $17k project for several years. They have raised $12K to date and have asked Townsend Rotary to help solicit the additional funds from the Montana Rotary District 5390 to make it truly a community supported project. The Legion has already received grants from the Broadwater County Development Corporation and Broadwater Community Foundation. Rotary would also help with additional fundraisers to complete the financing. They have also asked for Rotarian help to complete final painting and trim of the building as well as the roof on the building. The project would be completed between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020 depending on contractor schedules. Rotarians would apply for grants, paint the building extension, do the roofing on the facility, and install gutters.
