Summary: Centennial Pavilion Construction Project at Glen Lake Rotary Park to Benefit All People In Bozeman, Montana, USA and Beyond

The Bozeman Noon Rotary Club will be celebrating our 100 year anniversary in 2020. As part of the 100 year celebration, our club has started a very ambitious Centennial Pavilion Project at Glen Lake Rotary Park in Bozeman, MT to enhance and increase access to the park, especially for those with limited mobility. Glen Lake Rotary Park (formerly known as the East Gallatin Recreation Area) is a city park that the Bozeman Sunrise Rotary Club has worked on improving for many years, and recently the Bozeman Noon Rotary Club has joined in their effort to improve the area with a planned centennial celebration pavilion and event area to be located at the southern end of the park.

This pavilion and surrounding space will provide a superb family-oriented attraction and event space for up to 50 people to enjoy and use for family reunions, weddings, birthday parties, and more. The pavilion will be 52-feet in diameter with six alternating convex and concave panels set in a circular fashion echoing the wheel shape of the Rotary symbol. There will be a central opening in the middle of the pavilion through which a tree will be planted that will rise above the roof to embrace the natural setting. The pavilion will also facilitate a much-needed expansion of the park to help prevent crowding and will greatly enhance access for users of limited mobility while improving safety with minimal environmental impact.

Once completed, the park and pavilion will be a showcase of Rotary's contributions to people of Bozeman over the last 100 years while providing a public benefit for years to come. Additionally, upon completion, the park will be turned over to the city of Bozeman to handle all aspects of operating, maintaining, and collecting revenue generated from the space.

There are many phases of this project to see it to completion. We are requesting district grant funds to help with the initial phase of clearing space, excavating, and pouring concrete that will happen this year. This phase will include "clean-up" days at the future pavilion area that all Bozeman Rotary members will be asked to provide hands-on work to remove brush, shrubs and trees. Rotarians will also be asked to help with the excavating and pouring of concrete in conjunction with a local contractor.

The total project cost is estimated at $197,980.00 of which $108,900.00 has already been raised through joint fund-raising efforts of both clubs, and donations from the local community. There is still $89,080.00 needed to raise for this project which includes initial costs for clearing, excavating, and concrete. We are requesting a matching district grant in the amount of $5,000.00 to help us with the initial phase of this project. While district funds for this grant cycle won't be sufficient to cover all that is needed for the entire project with a planned completion date in 2020, it will be a big help in starting the initial phase this year.

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)

Gallatin Lake Rotary Park Monument Signs - A part of the Centennial Pavilion Project

The concept is to create a large, low, sturdy structure with an aluminum substrate that could be veneered with a graffiti resistant vinyl wrap. That graphic design of the wrap will be designed to highlight Rotary efforts in the community and recognize donors to the pavilion project. The vinyl wrap will allow for periodic updates at a nominal cost - the structure can be stripped of its vinyl and re-wrapped to change photos/graphics/text as necessary.

The four monuments will be constructed independently of the other park improvements, positioned on the sidewalk leading into the pavilion. A team of volunteer Rotarians ~ 6-8 will spend several Saturdays constructing and preparing these structures for the final wraps.

Rotary volunteers would provide the labor to:

prepare for concrete monument base

apply tile or stone veneer to the concrete base

construct the wood structure

apply the aluminum wrap

apply the concrete or metal cap
