Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Idaho Falls

Total Budget: $500

Area of Focus: None

Activity Type: Health: Volunteer Services

Summary: Costs associated with the training of volunteers to work as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for foster children

Identified Need:

On average the Judicial District VII CASA Program receives appointments to 145 new children each year. Judicial District VII is the largest district in Idaho; it is made up of Bingham, Bonneville, Butte, Clark, Custer, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison, and Teton Counties. The Idaho Falls Rotary Club would like to help CASA fulfill their mission to serve the great need in Eastern Idaho through this grant.

Funding for this grant could help community members and Rotarians become trained and certified volunteers to the CASA program. The Idaho Falls Rotary Club plans to help the CASA program achieve their goal to recruit and train 30 new CASA volunteers in the next fiscal year.

The Idaho Falls Rotary Club is committed to helping spread the word about the volunteer opportunities available for our members to join with CASA to help improve the welfare of some of our community's most at-risk youth.

The Idaho Falls Rotary Club has become a CASA partner. Working alongside the Idaho Falls Rotary Club, District VII CASA joins the Idaho Falls Duck Race, a major project for the club and the community. Rotary members work with CASA to provide an opportunity for CASA to further their mission through information to the community, fundraising in the community at one of the area's major events, among other things.

Timeline:

The funds would be utilized as soon as they are received, with training and implementation completed within a year of receipt of grant monies. Sign up and information to Rotarians about volunteer opportunities and club goals begin upon funding.

Rotary Foundation grants cannot provide "operating, administrative or indirect program expenses of another organization" nor can they provide "unrestricted cash donations to a beneficiary or cooperating organization" Is your proposal to provide operating expenses for CASA?

If you’re ready to turn in your application, send it for signatures NOW – on the administration side of the description tab. It must be signed by the primary contact person and the 2019-20 club president by midnight June 1. Before sending, be sure that you’ve addressed questions about your project if we asked any, making the necessary changes. Thank you!

Liza, It appears that after you cancelled the signatures in order to modify your application, you only resent it to yourself for signature the second time. To be valid, the grant application has to be signed by the 2019-20 club president in addition to yourself. I just sent the signature request to Mike O'Bleness.

TRF approved the district block grant on 7/9/19. The district received more requests for DDF than money available requiring that cuts be made in funding. Your project is reduced to $500 of DDF due to late reporting on open grant P-2250 and your application for this year wasn’t signed until four weeks after the June 1 deadline. Because you’ve been reduced to a tier 1 grant, we are not requiring that you spend the proposed total of $5,000 on the project, just the $500. We have cancelled the signature process and adjusted the financing to reflect this. To confirm your intention of continuing with the project, please send it again for signatures on the admin side of the description tab. Questions? Need help? Contact District Grants Chair Ines Crespo, 208 320-8494.

We sent you an email on 7-15 with details regarding a reduction to your requested funding. These changes require an additional approval from you. If this action has not been completed by 8-30-19, we will assume you no longer intend to complete this project with District Grant funds. Questions?
