Project Description Country: USA Location: Cerritos Total Budget: $2,027 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Education: General Summary: The ABC Unified School district has a general education program for teen parents. We will be replacing appliances for the cooking classes. Among the activities of the Teen Parent program are cooking classes each week. It has come to our attention that the cooking appliances that they are currently using are very old (ancient may be a better term). In addition, the stove is in disrepair and not all burners are working. We propose, through this matching grant to purchase for the Teen Parent program a new self-cleaning double convection oven/gas range and 2 microwave ovens (which among other things will be used to warm baby bottles while the parents are otherwise occupied. Our member not infrequently attend Teen Parent activities. We plan to gather as many of our members as possible to attend a cooking class. At that time we will make a presentation to them of our gifts.
