Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Ogallala

Total Budget: $1,500

Areas of Focus: Maternal and child health, Economic and community development

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: Children's Dental Clinic in Ogallala, NE to promote good dental care.

Within our community we have families without health insurance and lower incomes. We are concerned that children are not receiving basic dental care due to the expense. Our club plans to partner with the Sandhills District Health Clinic and host a Children's Dental Clinic in the spring 2014. We will utilize the grant funding to pay for the cleanings and exams done by local dentists and we would also like to provide each child with a toothbrush and toothpaste. This project will promote positive health within the children of our community and help assist those families who are in poverty or lower incomes to provide their children with proper dental care.

We will be providing toothbrushes and toothpaste to the students who attend Kindergarten round up on April 23rd along with dental education coloring books. The school will also qualify families that day that we will provide a coupon for free dental exam/cleaning/xray with the local dentist office. We will provide dental exams to at least 10 students at $120 each. We will not be working with the Sandhills District Health department as indicated on the origianl grant request. That department has lost funding and no longer in service.

The class picture submitted with the project is only one session of the roundup. We didn't get a picture of the morning session before the kids ran out the door to show the parents their new toothbrushes!
