Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Glenwood, IL

Total Budget: $1,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Scholarship

Summary: Scholarship grant to fund high school tuition for Glenwood Academy students who have fought to overcome the impact of trauma and mis-education in their lives.

Located in Glenwood, Ill., a south suburb of Chicago, Glenwood Academy is a supportive learning community serving over 150 children ranging from ages 7 to 18. The scholarships help enable our students to attend private high schools in our community that offer enhanced educational opportunities for students at risk.

Nearly 100% of our children live below or at the poverty line and 92% of our children are from single-parent households. I believe supporting Glenwood Academy students supports the mission of the Rotary Foundation by the support of education and the alleviation of poverty.

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)

"Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our club was unable to complete this grant. The unspent balance of this grant, will be directed toward COVID-19 relief in our community. We plan donate $277 of our club cash to create additional scholarships. "

This is a reminder that the final report for your grant was due 30 days after completion of your project. Please file your final report now. NOTE: If you haven’t spent all your funds, they can be repurposed for COVID 19. Please contact me for more information about that.

It is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL that you file your final report NOW. If you don’t, the 2020-21 grant for the ENTIRE District will be DELAYED.
