Summary: Flooring, paint, and furnishings provided in support of a location change for The Matthews House Community Life Center in Fort Collins.

Program Overview

The Matthews House Community Life Center (CLC) program was established in 2012 through a collaboration with the Department of Human Services; Children, Youth and Family Services, and Poudre School District, along with other community partners. Our second Community Life Center opened in 2015 in collaboration with the Genesis Project. These Centers serve as a consolidated location for vital services; as well as specialized, enriching programs for families. They help reduce barriers so families can attain what they need to learn, improve and become stronger and in turn, make our community stronger. Please refer to the latter portion of this request for information on specific programs and impacts.

Project Requesting Funding

The Matthews House Community Life Center at Fullana will be moving to our new location in partnership with First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Mulberry and College on July 1st. For the last six years, we were located within a Poudre School District facility.

Due to growth of their Early Childhood programming, we were given notice by PSD they could not renew our user agreement. We thank PSD for their partnership over the last six years.

We look forward to our budding relationship with First Presbyterian and the opportunity for additional space to continue to expand and grow. They have welcomed The Matthews House with open arms.

This funding will allow The Matthews House to contribute toward the cost of refurbishment and furnishings for a portion of First Presbyterian Church to make it warmer and more inviting to program participants. The refurbishment and move will take place during June and July of 2019.

The overall budget of the project is ~ $10,000 for moving costs, furnishings, and refurbishment expenses. However, this grant of $4,000 is for two specific budget items: $2,000 to reimburse First Presbyterian Church for a portion of the costs of flooring and paint that they are providing to spruce up the space (receipts will be provided). $2,000 is allocated for furnishings to be included in the new space, which will primarily include desks and tables and storage cabinets and similar.

Rotary Club members will be invited to be involved in painting days and moving days and similar as appropriate with this specific project, but would especially be invited to participate in ongoing volunteer activities at this new Community Life Center. Volunteers provide childcare to parents taking GED or ESL classes for example, and there is an after school program called Homework Helpers that connects many volunteers with students needing a little boost in some of their study areas.

I had forgotten that this is a redo grant from last year. You need to change the year to 2019-2020 from 2018-2019, your President Elect still needs to put in a foundation goal for 2019-2020 and you need to upload a budget. You do not need to change the financing.
