Summary: Phase II of Group Study Exchange between United States Native American and Austalian Aboriginals


Phase 1 of this project supported District 9700 proposal to receive a delegation of young indigenous Australian professionals to D5610 to experience a different indigenous culture. The team will share experiences and connections to demonstrate the unique way Rotary works towards building understanding, peace and vocational excellence. D5610 supported this GSE with $2500 grant.

The Professional/vocational areas of the indigenous professionals will be:

• Business operation and Indigenous art

• Community Arts - performance, visual, etc

• Justice

• Indigenous Health care

• Education - primary level (ages 7yrs to 12 yrs);

secondary (ages 12yrs to 17yrs);

sports; university level; vocational (college) level

• Land Care / Environment

Each participant will have expertise in one or more of these professions.

Phase 2 of this project will be to send counterpart Native Tribal Americans to Australia to mirror the experience of the Phase 1 Aboriginal Australians. This request will address phase 2, supporting the Native American delegation from District 5610 traveling to Australia. We will be sending Lakota, Dakota Nakota professionals matched to the aboriginal professionals, so that both can gain from this international exchange.
