Summary: Chula Vista Sunrise Rotary celebrated Rotarians at Work Day with over 100 volunteers for a food packaging event for Rise Against Hunger. Teamwork paid off as we set a new record in packaging over 18,000 in 90 minutes! Thanks to all our community members.
Our club will coordinate as its 2020 Rotarians at Work Day Project a hands on community wide event to package 18,000 plus meals in under three hours using up to 100 volunteers under the direction of Rise Against Hunger. We will purchase the ingredients, secure the project site and recruit volunteers who will assemble the meals. Rise Against Hunger will provide a facilitator and the equipment. Over 70% of the meals go to support transformational development programs such as school feeding programs, early childhood development programs, vocational training programs, orphanages and medical clinics. Another 20% is reserved for immediate response to crisis situations including natural disaster, conflict and famine events. This will be the 5th year our club has done the project. Our community response has grown each year.
