Project Description Country: USA Location: Escondido Total Budget: $3,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Thesaurus for 4th grade students to improve their writing skills Educators believe that third grade is the reading level that is key for every student. Dictionaries help students learn the meaning of words, how to become better spellers, better readers, better writers and more creative thinkers. It has been proven students with their own dictionaries use them more often and the connection with a book offers advantages over digital devices. In the process of providing dictionaries for third graders, it was revealed that thesaurus is an important addition for fourth graders. This grant project is focused on providing fourth graders in the Poway Unified School District with a Thesaurus. We will distribute directly to students. Club members will be making the presentation to each student while also explaining to the students the role of in the community, thus enhancing the image or Rotary.
