Project Description Country: USA Location: California Total Budget: $4,800 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Scholarship Summary: Sixteen high school juniors will attend RYLA Camp in April 2020. The camp is located in Idylwild, California. Coronado Rotary Club will select 16 high school juniors to attend RYLA camp in April, 2020. There will be 8 students from Coronado High School and 8 students from Mar Vista High School. These students will be selected by submitting a written application. They will be interviewed by Coronado Rotarians. This camp is an opportunity for these students to attend leadership seminars and other activities to enhance their leadership skills and to foster their incentives to become active community volunteers. Rotary club members participate in the selection process and also serve as facilitators at the camp in April. The long range goal is that these students become active in volunteer and community service as students and in their future adult life.An additional goal is that these students will enhance their knowledge and understanding of cultural differences. As future leaders this knowledge and understanding will help them foster peace and good will throughout the world.
