Summary: Market and Develop Summer Feeding Program for Children in East Fort Worth, Texas
The Tarrant Area Food Bank has a BckPack program which feeds identified children in hunger on weekends during the school year. There is no such program in the summer. FW East Rotary proposes an East Fort Worth Feeding Working Group, along with the Tarrant Area Food Bank, to market and develop summer feeding sites for the summer of 2014. Rotarians will (1)help canvas churches and other agencies to identify potential participants, (2)contact churches toward finding sites for feeding, (3)help develop brochures for distribution, (4)help develop information-giving through other channels; i.e., The Meadowbrook News, (4)volunteer in the actual feeding. Work will begin as soon as grant is given and will conclude in August, 2014, when East Fort Worth children have been fed throughout the summer. Funds will be used for publicity, brochures and food.
