Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Arlington, TX

Total Budget: $1,420

Area of Focus: Maternal and child health

Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General

Summary: Providing snack bags to elementary school students who are either hungry or who may be food insecure.

Arlington Great Southwest will partner with an organization called New Day. New Day works with Arlington area school counselors to identify students who require nutritional assistance. Data from New Day and school counselors estimate that at least 925 school children do not have enough food during weekends. Snack bags are delivered on Friday, and counselors discreetly distribute these items to the students.

Arlington Great Southwest Rotarians will raise money to match District Grant funds, procure the necessary food items, assemble the packets, and then deliver the items to

New Day. It is estimated that 2200 packets will be assembled for these children.
