Project Description

Country: United States + Germany

Location: New York, Hamburg, Berlin

Total Budget: $2,465

Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Disease prevention and treatment, Water, sanitation and hygiene

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: 2,500+ hygiene kits provided to homeless families living in New York City, Hamburg and Berlin.

The Rotary E-Club of Wall Street is a diverse club with more than 28 members across 13 major cities in the world. From our members' experience, homeless is a recurring issue in many of the urban cities we live in. Our Rotarians are determined to alleviate some of the day-to-day struggles facing homeless families. This past year, many of us independently volunteered for this cause, but we look to coming together through a common community service project complimenting our global reach as Rotarians of D7230.

Together, we aim to distribute hygiene kits (including shampoo, soap, etc.) in three major cities with our membership present: New York, Hamburg and Berlin. To ensure fair distribution of these kits, we will partner with established nonprofit organizations serving these populations.

Our club commits to raising at least $1,000 USD in donations from our members and individual contributions from their networks. The project funds will be used for purchasing supplies (travel size containers, baggies, Rotary sticker labels, etc.) in bulk to assemble together and bring to homeless organizations.

Our partner organizations include:

New York - The Bowery Mission

Berlin - Medizin Hilft

Hamburg - CaFeé mit Herz

The Rotary Club of Wall Street is hosting a call tonight to finalize selection of wholesalers for bulk purchase of soaps and other hygiene supplies. We plan to place an order for supplies to be drop shipped this evening to NYC and two locations in Germany for use by homeless beneficiaries.

We are working with AG Nadine Homann to include Fraternite Notre Dame in NYC, in addition to Coalition for the Homeless. We are also reaching out to local NYC Rotarians to contribute to fund.
