Project Description Country: USA Location: Gillette Energy, Wyoming Total Budget: $5,000 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Provide winter boots for students in need at thirteen elementary schools in Gillette, Wyoming The chair of the Community Services Committee, along with the Campbell County School District Superintendent's administrative assistant and the school counselors from each of the thirteen elementary schools will identify students in need of winter boots. The weather in Gillette is very cold and snowy and there are many students needing footwear for the season. Wyoming Work Warehouse has worked with Gillette Energy Rotary to provide boots at a discounted rate for approximately 300 pairs of boots. Individual Rotary members will pick up the vouchers for the boots and take them to the various schools, some members meet with the counselors or administrators, and some actually delivered the boots. This would be a "Governor's Grant" project. We have given 98 vouchers to the elementary school counselors, but only 43 pairs of boots have been purchased. The total spent so far is $1368.91.
