Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Windsor, CO

Total Budget: $6,000

Area of Focus: Community economic development

Activity Type: Community Development: General

Summary: Building human connections in neighborhoods by providing resources to hold a block party to help get people out of their homes and to know each other.

Research shows that people now have less contact with their neighbors than in the past which can lead to loneliness and isolation. The Windsor Severance area is growing at a rapid rate which means neighborhoods are growning and people do not know their neighbors. Rotary Club of Windsor has purchased a trailer and stocked it with yard games, tables, a canopy, and other supplies that can be used for a block party or neighborhood get-together. There is no charge to use the trailer. A Rotary member will bring it to your house and pick it up the day after the party.

The Windsor Rotary Club worked with the Severance and Windsor Police Departments to check on the laws and regulations concerning block parties. Both police departments were on board and supportive of the idea.

The purchase of the trailer, branding it and stocking it some of the basic items was $3916.

The trailer can be booked online at the Windsor Rotary Club website.https://www.rotaryclubofwindsor.org/neighborhood-connect.html

The club would like to add additional items which homeowners might not own in order to make the contents of the trailer more useful and exciting for users. We would also like to advertise the trailer through Facebook promotions. We plan to support a block party organized by one of our members in order to get some photos and positive comments about the usefulness of the trailer.

We believe that the trailer will help introduce people to their neighbors and build connections and a stronger community.

Ann,

The budget of income and expenses needs to match. You have income listed of $6,000 but the expenses are only $3,900.

Due to COVID19 this project is on hold. We did not feel it was prudent to advertise the trailer when social gatherings of more than ten and social distancing are in effect. Please advise on whether we can suspend the project or if you would like us to return the funds.

Ann,

You have until Sept. 2021 to complete the project. If you feel that you will not be able to finish it by that date than yes you need to return the funds. Let me know what you want to do.

Due to Covid-19, we are on hold with this project. This project was designed to bring people together in their neighborhoods and that is not possible right now. We hope that by spring 2021 there will be a breakthrough and a vaccine or reliable treatment will be available.

I still can't see the District Final report or the actual receipts or club bank statement for this project in the documents area. The only thing I see is word document final report you wrote up and a list of the expenditures. Can you scan and email me what you uploaded if it is different than what I see.
