Project Description Country: USA Location: Arlington, Texas Total Budget: $500 Area of Focus: Community economic development Activity Type: Community Development: General Summary: Support the Arlington Police Department’s “Mentoring Arlington Youth” (MAY) program, by providing a holiday celebration for this year’s participants in the program. This grant would be used to support the Arlington Police Department's "Mentoring Arlington Youth" (MAY) program, by providing a holiday celebration for this year's participants in the program. The May Program was created to serve African-American and Hispanic students in the seventh and eighth grades, and offers interactive workshops on leadership, team building, education and career development. Impact of Grant: Through collaborations with business leaders, adult mentors and the faith-based community in Arlington, the MAY Program seeks to cultivate an environment that monitors, mentors and motivates. The components of the MAY Program's mission coincide with those of Rotary, such as creating and influencing positive behavioral support while building sustainable relationships and creating social awareness beyond their neighborhoods. With this grant, The Rotary Club of Arlington would become one of the May Program Community Partners.
