Summary: Backup Electric Power generator provided for local hospital treating patients with Facial Cleft Deformities
In the process of providing children and patients located in the regions of Mexico with under served populations afflicted with Facial Cleft deformities, the mission surgeons and nurses of the Rotary-Smiles International Foundation projects Baja-Smiles which include Cabo San Lucas clinics have noted a deficiency of life-saving electrical power backup availability at the sites served.
Due to the relative frequency of hurricane related and other local power outages, the lack of electrical backup during times where clinical and surgical services are being provided can lead to serious medical life-threatening scenario. It is for this reason, both during and after the Rotary Mission projects are being completed, as well as for the community overall, this Matching Grant is developed to provide funds for the purchase, installation, and provision of an electrical backup generator for the local community's outpatient clinical surgical facility used.
This project will involve the participation of several Rotary Clubs located in the region of Cabo San Lucas and Los Cabos and will be a conjoined project of the Rotary Club of Carlsbad, Rotary Club of Carlsbad High Noon, and the Rotary Club of Los Cabos. Over 20 Rotarian will be participating and this project is estimated to provide benefits for over 8,000 people directly in the 2 years to follow the project completion.
