In recognition of Earth Day (22nd April), Teams of volunteers will pick up trash along various Saginaw streets (to be decided) in the morning then meet for lunch, sponsored by the EMS Rotary Club.
In the afternoon The Art Place will oversee an art project featuring recyclables, while EMS Rotary Club will organize a rock painting project for the kiddies.
With the help from a District Grant, the EMS Rotary Club will use designated funds to provide supplies for the cleanup, lunches for all participants as well as the crafts supplies for the afternoon activities.
If we are able to have the lunches sponsored we plan to use any excess monies to purchase new fruit trees for the Community Garden.
We plan to include our Rotaract Club at TCC NW, local Scout troops, the City of Saginaw, and the Texas Department of Transportation, as well as local residents.
This event would bring the community together to better their local environment, foster goodwill amongst all participants.
The entire membership of the EMS Rotary Club will be part of the planning and execution of this event, and will include 20 participants from The Art Place.
If successful this event could be repeated annually and even become an Earth Day Community Festival.
