Project Description Country: USA Location: Fairbanks Total Budget: $1,900 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Free running club for children ages 7-12 in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Golden Heart Running Club is organized to support the wellness of school-aged children, ages 7-12, through physical activity and friendship during the summer months. The project's primary area of focus is child health. The Golden Heart Running Club will offer a free athletic experience for 7 weeks during the 2013 summer, June - July, at Birch Hill Recreation Area, a local area attraction of trails and facilities. Golden Heart Rotarians will volunteer as supervisors, coaches and running partners as a part of our club's regular meeting schedule. Funds will be used to purchase club t-shirts, liability insurance, facility rental for awards banquet, awards, and after-practice snacks.
