Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Oceanside

Total Budget: $500

Area of Focus: None

Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General

Summary: Oceanside

Over the last seven years The Rotary Club of Oceanside has pursued a multi-year project to bring about meaningful, positive change to an area of our city that has been notorious over the years for gang violence - Crown Heights and surrounding neighborhoods. We have entered into partnerships with other non-profit organizations which provide services to the target area. North County Lifeline is a 501c(3) non-profit organization which provides support to Crown Heights students and their families. Many of these families are food insecure at the best of times, and due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting layoffs of family members, some of these families are facing dire conditions. This grant would provide funds for North County Lifeline to pay for groceries and other immediate needs for these families - NC Lifeline is in a unique position to identify the needs of the community because of their continuing work in the neighborhood. The Oceanside Rotary club has provided support to these programs in the past and intends to continue that support in the future.
