Summary: 4000 N95 masks to first responders and hospital staff in Downers Grove, IL


Past President Lisa Rasin approached the Village of Downers Grove to inquire about what they needed most to help with COVID-19. Cleaning supplies and KN95 masks what was the answer we received. Our club reached out to the community seeking donations of cleaning supplies. Kent Ebersold, another past president was able to secure 4000 KN95 masks from a vendor in St Louis, MO. The Rotary Club of Downers Grove and the Village of Downers Grove are going to split the cost and divide the amount of KN95 masks.Two thousand masks will be distributed to Good Samaritan Hospital, a Level One Trauma Center and the remaining balance will be given to the first responders of the Village of Downers Grove. The individual cost of each KN95 mask is $2.18 each mask or $8720 plus $77.38 freight for a grand total of $8797.38 The Village of Downers Grove will be contributing $4397.69 toward the project. The Rotary Club of Downers Grove's portion of the project is also $4397.69 The club is using District 6450 Disaster Relief award of $1000 and the requested District Grant allocation of $2013 for this project. (Note-the Club Contribution listed in the budget includes the VoDG contribution of $4397.69, the Disaster Response Award of $1000 and $1386 contribution from the Club.)

I want to remind you that your club's District Grant Final Report was due 30 days after completion of the project. COVID-19 grants were due by November 30, 2020. To complete your report, log into your account on matchinggrants.org. You will find the final report form there. Please complete the report and upload it along with your receipts by January 31, 2021.

If your club has completed its project, I am asking that you file the final report as quickly as possible. If you have not been able to complete your project due to COVID, please let me know. You may be able to repurpose the grant. The deadline for notification is this upcoming Monday, April 12. Unused funds will not carry over into FY22.

Hi Joe,

I want to remind you that your club’s final report for District Grant #3226, COVID-19 Disaster Relief, is more than 120 days past due. It is critical that you file your report now. The due date for all the District is two weeks from today: Monday, May 31, 2021. This is a hard deadline. Failure to meet the deadline may result in losing your club’s 2021-2022 District Grant allocation, and will impact your club's pending Global Grant. Additionally, filing a late report delays 2021-2022 allocations for the entire district.
