Need identified through St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Chula Vista for Project Hand. Project Hand Is an Emergency Assistance Food Pantry fun by Lutheran Social Services on the campus of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Chula Vista and serves homeless and low income families in the Chula Vista/South Bay area. The Chula Vista Rotary Club approved a donation of $1,500 for St. Mark's Lutheran Church for Project Hand. The food is purchased from the San Diego Food Bank at $.10 per pound and the donation will purchase 15,000 pounds of food. The food will be separated into Food Boxes for distribution to homeless and low income families and those impacted by COVID-19. The donation will provide 1,000 to 1,250 food boxes for distribution. Rotary volunteers will pick up the food at the San Diego Food Bank and deliver it to St. Mark's Lutheran Church Project Hand. The first pick-up/delivery date is scheduled for April 20th. This will be more than a one-time hands-on project and the club will be worked into a future pick-up and delivery schedule with other volunteers moving forward.
