Project Description Country: Nepal Location: Kathmandu Area Total Budget: $4,000 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General Summary: Provide funds and Rotarian support to feed children in two orphanages in Nepal for sevaral months during pandemic. The Rotary Club of Fort Collins, After Work has been supporting Rotarian work in Nepal since 2009. Our main contact is Sudip Koirala, a Rotarian in a Kathmandu Rotary Club. We have completed over 50 successful projects with Sudip over the past 10 years. Included in these 50 projects have been projects to support several orphanages in Nepal with food, bedding, educational materials, and other basic needs. At present, two of these orphanages need food due to the COVID-19 virus lockdown in Nepal. The purpose of this project is to provide funds and Rotarian volunteer support at these two orphanages to ensure these children receive nutritious meals. Each orphanage will require about $400 per month to purchase food for the next several months during the pandemic. Through this grant we will provide food for five months for a total of $4,000. The two orphanages include the Srijansil Orphanage which cares for 18 orphans and the Lava Prasad Orphanage with 22 Orphans. These two orphanages are the most crucial ones. If available from the funds sent, we have a third orphanage, the OCRC Orphanage that needs food and Rotarian support as well. We have received receipts for all the purchases of food (primarily rice) at a grocery store in Kathmandu.
