These students are disadvantaged by not being able to afford private tutoring, and with the current situation of COVID-19 and distance learning, their access to educational support is further reduced. If not addressed, they will continue to fall off of their educational pace. Our program is modeled after the Teaching Assistance model effectively used on college campuses and focuses on STEM education. This allows us to provide access to a larger swath of students and reduces the cost of providing tutoring to a fraction of the normal per student cost, and making it free to students to use. This is a rolling program and the Rotary can identify a specific school(s) that they would like to support if they are so inclined. The funds are used to pay the tutors that provide the tutoring service and the infrastructure to provide the online capabilities. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit. $1,000 provides 90 minutes per week for up to 25 students for 10 weeks of a STEM course. The tutoring is focused on specific courses and can be as narrow as a class, expanded to multiple classes on a specific course for larger schools, or as large as to include a school district.
