Summary: The Windsor Club will build, place and maintain, Little Free Libraries in public places to encourage childhood literacy.
It seems fair to say that the digital age is making it more difficult for children to make the written word an integral part of their formative years. The digital device has become the default source of entertainment. It appears to be more difficult for kids to find those empty pockets of time to be able to dive headlong into a book. As a community, anything that we can do to support reading and the love of books for our younger generation should be encouraged. Rotary Club of Windsor will build or have built at least twelve Little Free Libraries in our community. We want to focus on the pre-school and elementary school reader. We will place the Little Free Libraries near parks, playgrounds and school bus stops. We will make sure they are stocked with books appropriate for the young reader. The structures will be constructed by individuals within or outside the club. We will insist on high quality and that the structures will withstand weather typical of northern Colorado. Members of the club will restock the libraries and be sure they are in good condition.
This project is "Approved". This means that the district leadership has reviewed and approved the allocation of district funds for this project. Once the funds from the district have been issued, the status of the project will be changed to "Paid".
