Project Description Country: USA Location: Lewisville, TX Total Budget: $9,500 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Partner with CCA to promote science education grades K-8 through the Youth in Motion Project The Lewisville area Rotary Clubs have been partnering with Christian Community Action by providing volunteer support for their food pantry, donations for their back to school program ,donations for their their Christmas store and several other initiatives serving the poor in the area. CCA has identified a Literacy initiative to help families break the poverty cycle. The project consists of making elementary aged students excited about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through hands on exhibits the children will use as part of the fun learning exercises. The purpose of this Grant is to assist CCA in purchasing a hands on exhibit. Rotarians will assist in the assembly of the exhibit, volunteer to teach at the exhibit, and perform other duties to assist CCA in developing the Youth in Motion Program.
