Project Description Country: USA Location: Burkburnett Total Budget: $2,200 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Promoting literacy via gifting dictionaries, supporting and teaching reading skills. Promoting the reading skills in our community by providing a personal dictionary for each 3rd grader in the Burkburnett School System, to provide books, targeting children, through Grace Ministries, support and teach reading skills to those struggling in this area. Rotarians will purchase and place club labels in the dictionaries, take and deliver them to three different school locations. Donate and gather books for, and deliver to, Grace Ministries to be distributed to both children and adults. Rotarians will teach reading skills through Grace Ministries and Wichita Falls Area Literacy Council. We delivered many boxes of books to thirteen (13) Day Care Centers and Pre-Schools. Another effort was to gather, contribute books to our Local Library and funds to replace damaged books or lost parts of book series. Also, supporting Literacy -Rotarians Tutor as well as provide teaching literature for the Wichita Falls Adult Literacy Council. 25-Nov-13 by Ruth Bridges Since our last entry we have labeled and made Dictionary Deliveries to 3 Grade schools giving every 3rd grader their own Dictionary.
