Summary: School supplies, dictionaries, and school program support for the Pilot Point and Tioga ISDs.
The Pilot Point and Tioga ISDs are both classified as having more than 50% of their student populations eligible for the free or reduced lunch program. With a large rural population of low\mod income families there is a need for community support for education purposes for such things as school supplies, dictionaries, and school program support for kids working to maintain and improve good grades in the middle and intermediate schools.
The Lake Ray Roberts Rotary Club supports the programs through fund raising, on site distribution of dictionaries, and attendance of recognition programs at the ISDs such as Float to the Top and Bug Club. Rotary members work to raise the funds in the community through various activities such as the Flag Program for special days of the year, through the purchase and sorting of school supplies into individual student packages, through the presentation of dictionaries to the students in their classrooms, and through the funding and attendance at monthly recognition programs in the middle and intermediate schools for student who are maintaining and improving their grades. Members attend the events and provide snacks and certificates for the individual students. The Club is supporting the first ever Tioga School Supply Drive this year.
