Summary: Provide back to school supplies to the children at ten elementary schools in National City, CA


The National City Police Department paticipates in a yearly fundraising partnership with the National City Low Rider Community and the National City Rotary Club to purchase school supplies for the students in The National School District. This district consist of 10 schools and 6700 students. The National School District has incurred yearly budget deficits making it more difficult for Parents and Teachers to get the supplies the kids need. After the supplies are purchased (hopefully in September, National City Rotarians and the National City Police will work directly with school principals and teachers to disperse the supplies to students in the classroom.

Advised Bill Goulet and Club President John Halstead that no one from their club is shown as having attended the annual, mandatory March 2013 Grants Management Session. Requested confirmation that District records are correct. Also provided link to the online video of session. Advised Bill 2 members would need to watch the video and to reply back to me with their names and confirmation. Advised them that participation in the grant program requires 2 members to attend the annual mandatory.

A check for $4000 was submitted to the National City Police Chief Manuel Gonzalez on October 8th, 2013. A photo copy of the check will be submitted as soon as I receive the copy from the bank that it was cashed. Photos of the delivery of school supplies on October 22 to area schools are forthcoming. A short presentation was to be given today at the Foundation Seminar.

I have uploaded our cancelled check for $2000 and a photo of us buying school supplies. We also gave a presentation at this past District Conference at the Crown hotel in San Diego. Please let me know if this completes all requirements of the grant. I am assuming I am done here. -- Bill Goulet
