Summary: Partner with the local YMCA and teach kids to swim


The Rotary Club of Joliet will partner with the YMCA and Fairmont School District to teach kids basic swimming and safety skills. The Fairmont District is an exceptionally underprivileged area where all students are a free lunch program. Approximately 75 2nd grade students will be taught basic swim and safety skills. Rotary will provide swimsuits, googles and towels for the students and volunteer on the day of the event by handing out towels and snacks after they have completed the course. The instruction will take place at the Joliet YMCA with certified YMCA instructors as the teachers.

6/21/22 Rachel Ossyra, DRFCC. Projects P-3866 and P-3868 have been cancelled due to COVID and weather. The DDF from those projects have been applied to this project for $4,301 DDF total. The Final Report and proof of payment are uploaded to the P-3867 project folder.

If the final report is not submitted by June 15, 2022, the club will be required to return the grant funds to the District for return to the Rotary Foundation.
