The Club voted to undertake a project to improve the area around Washington Park, located in a minority area of the city. A survey of the park and its surrounding area, it was determined that there are about a dozen structures, abandoned houses, and lots that need to be cleared for enviriomental , health, and safety reasons. Approximately 25 to 35 haul off dumpsters would be needed to cleana the area .
The City Manager, also a Rotarian, is the chairman of this project. The planning, legal, financial, workforce, and public relations committees are made up of Rotarians. The club has set aside funds for this project. Additionally, they will have fundraisers to secue additional funding.
The community of 3300 people will be the beneficiaries with this improvement. Knowing from past support of other projects in the community, it is assumed that community members and other organizations will help us see it to complettion.
