Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Mountain Home, ID

Total Budget: $1,582

Areas of Focus: Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: Hygiene kits as needed to various schools and domestic violence center.

Project Description:

Hygiene kits for students within our school systems and back packs for the domestic violence center. Providing basic hygiene essentials, such as tooth care, chap stick, deodorant, shampoos and soaps, basic hair needs. We would like to add blankets to our backpacks for the domestic violence children. It has come to our attention that some of our students have never used a washcloth. We have members that have crocheted up to 400 washcloths a year. We would love to be able to furnish these students with bath size towels. We are trying to make the bags age appropriate to include shaving supplies and feminine hygiene products for our older students.

This is an annual event for our club. All bags will be distributed by the end of May 2022. Each club member is asked to donate towards this project. Club members come together with their donations to fill and distribute the bags.

The grant we are requesting will be used to provide hygiene items as needs are identified. As a result of feedback from teachers and staff there is a definite need for additional bags.

This project has grown each year since we began and we would like to continue to meet the needs of our growing community. We wish to encourage positive self-esteem in the students, to enable them to focus on their education and to feel better about themselves.

TRF approved our district block grant on July 23rd. The amount of your grant has been reduced to $1,282. Grant applications in tier 3 require the club to put in 50% of project funding, so we dropped you back to tier 2 leaving your club amount of $300 the same, but you can spend more club money if you'd like. You'll need to resign your application with the modified funding. Watch for the email with signing link.

I have audited this project. I will approve it when: you verify the payment method for the two Dollar Days International invoices. If you wrote a check, I need the date, amount, to whom and check number. If it was by credit card, I need an invoice showing it was paid by credit card or partial credit card statement without account number.

The members of the Rotary Club of Elmore County have made our purchases for our hygiene project. We have spent the $1251 from our grant funds and an additional $256.06 of club money. We are waiting for information from the schools as to which ones need hygiene bags and which ones need items for their hygiene closets. We expect to be finished with our project by August 31, 2023.
