Summary: Montogomery High School Robotics Project -acquisition of starter kit /tools to build and program robots in South San Diego, Ca. USA

All teams receive kits on January 4th, 2014. No teams know what they will be building or competing for until Jan. 4th. They have 6 weeks to build their own design using software and hardware. They will be mentored by a volunteer professional engineer. The Pharoahs will be a team of 25 students, half will build the robot, the other half will raise funds. A total of $10,000 will be needed to register for tournaments. The Rotary Club of Chula Vista Sunset will sponsor part of the robotic kit and some tools. We will be meeting and mentoring, teaching how to use hand tools, helping write speeches for fundraising and transportation needs. We will also be attending tournaments as cheerleaders, which they earn points for. The students work under strict rules, limited resourses, and time limits. First competiton (regionals) is the 2nd week of March if they advance they go to nationals in St. Louis, Mo. April 23-26 Our timeline is January 4th thru April 26th. "Building scientist and engineers for the future."

The students can qualify for over $16 million in college scholarships.

We are a new club and this is our first fundraiser and project. We lost our secretary and quite a few members, so we hope to have all dues rectified in a timely manner.

March 6-8th, the Pharoahs Robots team along with 59 other teams from all over the world, held the regional tournament at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, Ca. We had a 12 member team that competed with teams from 30-60 members. Out of 60 teams we placed 32nd. The reason for this was that the launching arm could not reset itself to shot the 2 foot around ball to score points. All it could do is play defense. The Pharoahs did win the coveted JUDGES AWARD for being the only team to take on two projects.
