We are requesting a matching grant totaling $2,000.00 ($1,000.00 from the Garden Grove Rotary Club and
$1,000.00 from District 5320) for the purpose of stocking emergency food and supply pantry at the H.O.P.E.
in Garden Grove, California. Provisions will include non-perishable food items such as dry and canned food, cereals, baby supplies and personal hygiene items. These recipients are vetted and screened by H.O.P.E referred through city emergency services and local hospitals and clinics.
This project benefits abandoned or abused women and children by H.O.P.E. faculty when they see the need for assistance. After the family need for assistance is assessed by the faculty an appointment is made for meeting the recipient at H.O.P.E. facility in Garden Grove to distribute the needed items and establish further needs. The vast majority of families H.O.P.E. assists would be categorized as "working poor". H.O.P.E. assisted over 8000 individuals in 2020 that was double the amount compared to 2019. The need has increased dramatically and the 24 years of the relations built by H.O.P.E. is not sufficient to help all the referrals coming to H.O.P.E..
