Summary: Changing the lives of fifty-nine children living in extreme poverty in El Salvador.

This project aims to change the lives of fifty-nine (59) Salvadorean children who live in rural communities and whose families are under extreme poverty conditions. These children are at risk of malnutrition and have limited access to preschool education because there is no kindergarten in their community. The project activities will improve children's opportunities and their families, through education which can help them come out of the poverty circle. All this will happen through two Children Development Stimulation Centers (CEDI}, which are located at El Almendro community of Sonzacate, Sonsonate, and Chupadero Community, Santa Rita, Chalatenango. The Asociación para la Organizacion y Educación Empresarial Femenina de El Salvador (OEF) has been working with families in these communities.

The activities of this project are as follows:

1. Child Care: CEDIs working in the two communities will train teachers, for 4 hours daily through games on how to stimulate children's intellectual, motor, language development, so they learn to read and write, basic math, while they also instructed on values, human rights, and environmental care.

2. Promotion of art, music, and culture through musical instruments, cultural activities, like civic and peace parades, and art projects to stimulate learning. This will be undertaken with the fifty-nine children involved in the project.

3. Delivery twice-monthly of basic food baskets: This will ensure that the children and their families receive adequate nutrition.

4. Medical care follow-up: Trimestral medical attention will be provided to monitor the weight and height of every child by physicians from Community Health Clinic in the impacted communities. Vitamins, medicine, and Covid 19 testing will be provided to the fifty-nine children involved in the project.

5. Environmental care: Families and communities will be sensitized about the importance of taking care of the environment, promoting their involvement in different activities as much as taking care of trees.

6. Environmental sanitation: teaching cleaning and recycling programs, trees planting, garbage separation, and building compost piles.

7. Delivery of supplies to begin chicken farming will provide families the ability to produce eggs and chickens, improve family nutrition, and provide an income when there is an excess of production.

8. Monthly educational talks on different topics for parents and families involved in the program to determine progress with their children.
