Organization:
Pina de Palmera, A.C. (www.pinapalmera.org), is a non-governmental organization (NGO), non profit organization located in Playa Zipolite, San Pedro Pochutla, Oaxaca. México. They support 635 people of all ages with physical, intellectual, hearing, visual and psychosocial disabilities including rehabilitation. The majority of recipients are indigenous and live in extreme poverty in the Oaxaca Mountain region. Pina de Palmera has supported people in the region for over 30 years. Needs: There is a need for wheelchairs, wheelchair repair kits, special needs bed, ergonomic chairs, special needs bed. Computer equipment is needed for rehabilitation and administrative function.
Project:
Grant will be used make needed repairs and purchase equipment in the amount of $3,000. This is needed to sustain and continue to support the program. The list of equipment is provided in the Documents Section entitled "Pina de Palmera Equipment.pdf"
Timeline:
The program will be completed 4 months after receiving funds. Alina Gordon, Point Loma Rotary Club International Director, has visited the site and will provide support going forward. PLRC members will be invited to participated in the support of the program.
Public Relations:
Upon completion, Pina de Palmera, A.C. will provide Rotary recognition by displaying placards, and Facebook news release. PLRC will post on website and Facebook.
