Project Description Country: Mexico Location: Parras Total Budget: $3,674 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Provide wheelchairs to impoverihed people in Parras de la Fuente, Mexico To provide wheelchairs of various sizes to those impoverished people of Parras de la Fuente, Mexico, in need of such, including some special Aluminum PCI wheelchairs for children. This need was identified as the result of previous projects to deliver a wheelchair-lift equipped bus and a small container of wheelchairs and parts. The bus has been used to bring handicapped children from surrounding mountain villages into the city to receive education for the first time and all of the wheelchairs we delivered were quickly dispensed and all the spare parts used to fix older wheelchairs were used immediately. This informed the Parras Rotarians of the much greater need for wheelchairs and for servicing older chairs. The entire RC of Parras has been actively involved in this project and many members of several RCs in D-5790 have been part of the original projects and will work together on this project.
