|
Bike safety is a community service offered to 3rd graders at Luverne Elementary school. Luverne Rotary has made it a priority that all kids have a bike helmet for safety. A letter offering permission to give a student a helmet goes home and is returned to school. Rotary club members then visit the school on safety day and fit kids for a helmet. We have added 4 new schools to our long standing program. All the communities in which our Rotarian membership resides is representing in this project. We give out colors that match the school colors to promote pride. We expect to give out 100 helmets to those that don't or can't afford a helmet this spring. It is time to order for the next 3 year wave and are looking for some grant dollars to help with our expansion into other schools.
