Project Description

Country: Elmore

Location: Mountain Home

Total Budget: $2,502

Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene

Activity Type: Community Needs Assessment

Summary: Basic care essentials for local schools, domestic violence program and adults in need.

Project Description: Hygiene kits for students within our school systems, back packs for the domestic violence center, the homeless and other in need in Elmore County. We are increasing the amount of our request for grant funds as there is a greater need of the essentials in our community. Providing basic hygiene essentials, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, chap stick, deodorant, shampoos and soaps, basic hair needs towels, washcloths, and blankets for children and adults alike will go a long way in increasing self-esteem and promote healthy living. This next year we would like to expand kits/bags to include socks, underwear and we will continue to add towels, wash clothes, and blankets. We would want to be able to continue to furnish not just our students with needed essentials but there is a need to offer help to others in need in our community. We are trying to make the bags age appropriate to include shaving supplies and feminine hygiene products as needed.

This is an annual event for our club. All bags will be distributed by the end of May 2023. Each club member is asked to donate towards this project. Club members come together with their donations and to assist filling and distributing the bags. We have members who will be crocheting 200 washcloths for this project.

The grant we are requesting will be used to provide hygiene items, towels, blankets, socks, and underwear and personal items as needs are identified. As a result of feedback from teachers and staff there is a definite need for additional bags. This project has grown each year since we began, and we would like to continue to meet the increased needs of our growing community. We wish to encourage positive self-esteem and healthy living among those in need.

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)

The maximum grant your club can request is $1,251 because you club contribution to the Annual Fund of The Rotary Foundation in 2019-20 was less than $100/capita ($99.04). Please adjust the DDF portion of your project financing to reflect this. You can increase the club contribution to the project or reduce the overall size of the project so that the financing will equal the budget. Feel free to contact Marianne Barker at 208 308-5617 if you have questions. Thank you for participating in Rotary Foundation district grants through Rotary District 5400.

The maximum grant your club can request is $1,251 because you club contribution to the Annual Fund of The Rotary Foundation in 2019-20 was less than $100/capita ($99.04). For the sake of moving your application along, the budget has been reduced to a total of $2502 to reflect this. When you report, you will have to spent at least that amount. Your next step is to start the club signature process by clicking the button on the administration side of the description tab. The deadline for the project manager and the 2022-23 club president to sign is midnight June 1. Do not delay in starting the signature process to have your project be accepted for the district's block grant application to The Rotary Foundation. Questions: call Marianne 208 308-5617

The district grant committee has approved your request to change the financing of this project to tier 2A, a combination of $1,251 DDF + $250 of club money for a total project budget of $1,501. This is a one-time event to resolve an issue of expenses that were incurred prior to TRF approval of the district block grant. It is not to be considered an "option" to achieving grant compliance in the future. Please implement your project and report as required for D5400 grants. If you are unable to complete the project by the reporting date of May 15th, enter a history log stating if this grant project has begun & if it has, when it began, what percent complete it is & when you anticipate finishing it out. It is expected that implementation will not be deferred to 2023-24 school year.

This is a reminder that you have a report due on this grant by May 15th, 2023. If the project is completed your submittal should be a final report. You'll find the report form on the admin side of the description tab for download. Complete the report, save as pdf and upload to the documents tab along with supporting receipts. If project is not complete, provide a progress report by sending a history log email stating when you started the project, what percent complete it is and when you anticipate being wrapped up. That's all we need for a progress report. Failure to report may impact your club's ability to receive a grant in the 2023-24 cycle, so please get your report in. Call Marianne 208 308-5617 if you have questions or need help.
