Project Description Country: USA Location: Laguna Beach Total Budget: $5,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Provide hard copy dictionaires to every 3rd grader and 2 learning iPads for each 3rd grade class room. Our Reading Comprehension Project supplies every 3rd grader with a hard copy dictionary and each class room with two learning iPads with reading and learning applications for group work. The prject will be for all 3rd grade classes in Laguna Beach, CA. Third grade is the grade when dictionary and reference material work is introduced to elementry school children. Understand word meanings assist children in developing their vacabulary and improve reading comprehension. Group work and technology are being introduced to assist with the the latest resources and so children will keep up to date with the best teaching tools available. Budget cuts have forced many schools to cut back on obtaining these resources to provide to children. There will be an estimate nine 3rd grade classes and and 280 children who will benefit from the Reading Comprehension Program. We will fund the project and make presentations to the schools in Febuary on 2014.
