Orange County United (OCUnited) is a well-regarded non-profit organization dedicated to working with at-risk youth and young adults, including former foster youth, who research shows increased vulnerability to sexual exploitation and trafficking. OCUnited currently provides programs: Domestic Violence Initiative, THRIVE Program (for former foster youth) and Neighborhood Initiative (anti-gang efforts). Participants from these high-risk groups will be invited to this program, along with the United Teens group. The program will be a full work of activities focused on self-esteem and empowerment, trafficking awareness, positive coping skills, and build capacity to advocate for others. Event will conclude with an arts project Tee shirt design, poster contests, etc.) that will be publicly displayed. The final event will include victim testimony called the "storytellers vigil". Rotarians will be invited to assist throughout the event, and to attend the storytellers' vigil, hopefully with media coverage highlighting Rotary's sponsorship of this exciting and timely event.
