Project Description Country: USA Location: San Diego Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene Activity Type: Education: Volunteer Services Summary: Sunset High Interact students will assemble backpacks for adolescent refugees relocated in the SD area. Our goal is to support the overall well-being of the youth we serve at Sunset High School. We strive to teach them the skills for positive mental health, and exemplify how to be contributing members of the community. We believe that by providing guidance and empowering these youth, they can find their path away from at-risk behaviors they are regularly exposed to and develop into healthy, thriving young adults. The Sunset High Interact club and youth programs will fill backpack with the most basic of sanitary needs eliminating a further open door to disease and the spread of Covid 19. Using local community services, the backpacks will be distributed to refugee adolescents ages 12 - 17. Providing basic human needs to the underserved population teaches autonomy to the youth at Sunset High School.
