Crimegrade.org rates the City of Oceanside at "C-," and the Rotary Club of San Luis Rey would like to improve that. No other Rotary Clubs in Oceanside are currently teaching the Eight Pillars of Positive Peace as outlined in the Rotary Peace Academy, and only the Rotary Club of San Luis Rey is currently accredited by the Rotary Action Group for Peace.
The Rotary Club of San Luis Rey (RCSLR) has developed its RAGFP accredited "Peacebuilder Club" program (that includes a highly esteemed annual Peacebuilder Award) that we want to expand on by increasing opportunities for recognition of Oceansideʻs unsung heroes through monthly plaques and breakfast sponsorships. RCSLR will also increase access to approved peacebuilding curricula via its ClubRunner website as well as opportunities to recognize local peacebuilders on a monthly basis with monthly "Peacebuilder Award Nominee" plaques. RCSLR has budgeted $515 of club funds to support the program the past three years but would like to expand local outreach so that community members are more engaged with our club and also can access peacebuilding curricula on our ClubRunner page. We would also like to increase the prestige of our annual Peacebuilder Award by providing annual nameplates for our new perpetual trophy.
