Summary: Training and Support Framework for Pediatricians for Mental Health
Introducing this toolkit into any community to increase the capacity for prevention and treatment of adolescent behavioral and mental health issues. Rotary Action Group Mental Health Initiative (RAGMHI) volunteers offer guidance for creating requisite telephone support to the pediatrician by a child psychiatrist, assisted referral, and emergency plan. The core didactic training is on-demand with Boston Children's Hospital 'Building Bridges of Understanding'. This training and the requisite supports enables pediatricians to overcome the fact that there are not enough child psychiatrists to see all youth with symptoms.
This project organized by District 5340 will identify suitable medical practices and pediatricians and introduce them to the online training resources. The project will fund the distribution of printed manuals that support the classes for the pediatrician and their support staff.
