Project Description Country: USA Location: Lewisville, Texas Total Budget: $3,653 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Purchase dictionaries for 3rd Graders in 11 Lewisville ISD Title I Elementary Schools within Lewisville ISD Students at several campuses in Lewisville ISD are English Language Learners who come from high poverty homes. Many students do not have access to technology or resources to assist them in their educational endeavors. Project Rationale: The project will ensure that students have access to a resource to aid in the English language development, Spanish language development, and content knowledge of 3rd grade TEKS Timeline: Upon receipt of the grant, dictionaries will be purchased and distributed in the Fall or winter of 2022/2023. We will work with school representatives to distribute the dictionaries. Club members will label all dictionaries, deliver to the 3rd graders in their classes. The club will stress to 3rd graders about the importance of literacy for college and career readiness.
