Activity Type: Health: Disease

Summary: Will provide educational materials and thousands of feminine hygiene products to underprivileged women in Taxila and Islamabad, Pakistan

Sara Ayub is a URI Individual Member who lives in Taxila (Pakistan). She has a BS degree in psychology and is certified in clinical psychology. Since 2016 she has been an affiliate director of "I Support the Girls Pakistan". The main focus of her work is to educate marginalized (low to lower middle class) females about the importance of their health by improving feminine hygiene. They have evolved and now want to make women's hygienic undergarments, educating women and girls on how to use them, and how to discard them. Other educational topics include breast cancer and the hygienic importance of schoolgirls having availability of sanitary undergarments and pads. This grant will provide the money necessary to purchase the necessary sewing equipment to make female undergarments, i.e., bras, panties, menstrual pads, etc. This includes sewing machines, fabric, needles, threads, scissors, machine maintenance, etc. It will assure that they have the stated products available to them at all times. Because of the high exchange rate to our U.S. dollar, this grant will enable them to have a sufficient volume of feminine hygiene products and undergarments.
