Summary: Food for needy families in Yonkers


During the height of COVID in 2020 and 2021, our Club developed a relationship with the Yonkers YMCA and YCAP when we purchased meals and partnered with them to distribute the meals to their clients. (Please see Certificate from YCAP in "Documents" section of this application)

Recently, our Club was approached by these two organizations to help them purchase food for their food pantries and help them distribute food to their clients.

While these organizations receive food from Feeding Westchester they must pay Feeding Westchester for certain foods - especially dairy products like milk and cheese.

Inflation has affected the amount of food these organizations can purchase from Feeding Westchester.

On June 28, 2022 LoHud reported that "food costs that have risen 18% for Feeding Westchester pantries" (Please see the full story in "Documents" section of this application)

Our Club proposes to help the food pantries at the Yonkers YMCA and YCAP purchase $4,000 worth of food from Feeding Westchester that they would otherwise not be able to afford and to help them distribute the food to needy families.
