Our Club supports Maudrie Walton Elementary with weekly in-person reading mentors for each 3rd grade student. This has been an on-going project for approx. 5 years, in support of FWISD's "100 x 25 Ready To Read, Ready To Lead" initiative (https://www.fwisd.org/100x25).
Walton Elementary is located in the Stop Six area serving public housing. Test scores fall far below the state average (22% Reading, 18% Math, 9% Reading, Science 21%). Each 3rd grade student will be given an "Elementary Dictionary" with these funds. The Club and member volunteers provide provide additional support throughout the year. The DDF balance will be used to fund an additional (1) RYLA student in Spring, 2023.
